About Robert:
Robert started short wave listening as a child in the mid-1980s and received his licence,G0HGW, a few years later.

His main interests have always been HF Dxing and contesting. He spent many years operating with very limited antennas , ½ wave vertical on 10M , ½ G5RV, wire dipoles pegged to the washing line. So he knows what's its like to be at the bottom of a pile up. Despite the antenna limitations he managed to work 120+ countries on 10m in his first year.

He is often found participating in HF contests and has recently started his DXCC count from zero with his callsign (F5VHN).

He frequently operates from his local radio club F6KCP (4EL 10m mono band yagi up at 40m), it is here that he has recently discovered VHF contesting.

Apart from operating he enjoys constructing and generally 'playing' with antennas.

Robert is currently employed by the RATP (Public transport operator for Paris) as a telecommunications Engineers responsible for a mobile date network for 4000+ busses.

Other interests include 'the Great out-doors' with Wolf observation / research trips in the Alps, north-western Spain , W7 and VE7/KL7.

He is currently living just outside Paris with his partner Sandra and Tarka (Border terrier), Tamar (Airedale terrier) and Twitch (Cat). (None of which have an amateur radio licence).
