About Tony:
Tony was constantly building radios as a child/teenager in the 1960s. He spent several years at sea as a Merchant Navy Radio operator. Went back to college for 3 years gaining a BSc in Electronic Eng. Worked for a major UK defence company for 11 years, involved in design/building of radio equipment up to 500kWatts, mostly HF and some VHF, followed by another 13 years in low power VHF/UHF radio systems. Currently Assistant Chief Engineer with THALES Communications (UK).

Late starting his Amateur radio interests due to a variety of reasons. A chance invitation to HF CW Field Day in 1990 triggered his childhood interest in HF. Tony took the CW tests before the technical examination and has been active since 1991, exclusively CW from 1992. He runs a Yaesu  FT1000MP and 400W to a 17Meter tower with various antennas.

Tony is a qualified Running Coach and has a draw full of running medals from previous races including a few Marathons. Race times are not as good as they were but he enjoys the exercise.

His XYL and two daughter think he is crazy!
