100,000 QSOs and counting!Early on Monday morning our time, the 3B9C DXpedition logged QSO number 100,000. We are only the second DXpedition to reach into six figures. The QSO was with DL3BZZ at 06:31, on 18MHz CW. The local operator was Justin, G4TSH. This makes us the second largest DXpedition of all time measured by QSO count. The largest, D68C, was the first to exceed the 100,000, with a total count of 168,722. The 3B9C team is run by the Five Star DXers Association, who also ran the D68C operation in 2001. Many of the 3B9C team were also members of D68C. We are all delighted with this QSO landmark, which has only been made possible by "you" being at the other end. We thank and salute you! Competition winner: The 3B9C team took guesses at the exact time of QSO 100,000. The winner was Don, G3XTT who was only 45 minutes out in his guess. Our
First EME QSO:Today, we made our first EME QSO on 6m. The contact, via the moon, with SM7BAE at 1807z, was run at this end by Kazu, JA1RJU. We believe this to be the first ever EME QSO from Rodrigues Island. We will continue with planned EME skeds over the next few days. RTTY & PSK now active: Early on Monday morning local time, 3B9C appeared on 20m RTTY. We expect to operate on both RTTY and PSK on 20m, 15m and 10m plus some limited activity on the other bands. Click here for our RTTY & PSK frequencies. WPX Contest: 3B9C ran a multi-multi entry in the WPX Contest. We found it difficult to work many stations on the low bands, 160, 80m and 40m. Conditions on the higher bands were better, but we lost several hours on Sunday due to sun disturbances. Our claimed score will exceed 20,000,000. Go to Monday -> |
