of the dayThe coral quarry on Rodrigues. About 20 feet deep, the coral has been extensively mined. New Team Arrive Six new members of the team arrived on Rodrigues Island on Tuesday evening. This means that virtually the whole team are together for the first time. Many of those who were here at the start, will leave for home on Thursday. RTTY We are as active as possible on RTTY and will continue with the mode until the end of the DXpedition. We are aware that many stations are chasing 3B9C on RTTY and we will cover the various openings as soon as practical. Activity on PSK will start in due course. 100,000 QSO Party When the new team members arrived, an opportunity was taken to celebrate the 100,000 QSO mark. All stations were closed for about an hour, to allow for champagne to be administered all round. Some operators took the opportunity to have a relaxing evening, although there was more activity on the bands later. 70cm EME Preparations will start on Wednesday morning to set up the 70cm EME station. There are limited opportunities for EME on this band and a number of skeds have already been agreed. G Stations in the log Being, primarily, a UK based group, we are interested in the number of UK stations in the log. Currently, there are 1,446 different calls from G. Of these, 129 are from former class B stations and 36 with M3 calls. Trip around the island Around 15 members of the team went on a five hour tour of Rodrigues Island on Tuesday. This gave the opportunity for some rest and recreation. Time was spent in Port Mathrin, the island capital, where souvenir shopping was the order of the day. Rodrigues is a beautiful island, with many glorious bays inside the coral reef. Some of the views from high points are stunning. Go to Wednesday -> |
