About David:
David became interested in “Radio” in the mid sixties (aged 10) when his sister Marion took him to see the Radio Caroline ship in the North Sea.

David studied for his UK licence in 1978, during a sabbatical from his technical studies. His first call, G8PDW, was issued that June, and the very next day, he travelled to the Isle of Man TT Races on his Triumph motor cycle, complete with Liner 2 VHF SSB transceiver and HB9CV antenna.

His current call, G0MRF, was issued in 1989.

David has written technical articles for the RSGB and AMSAT . He has interests in both extremes of the radio spectrum, currently holding the UK 2-way QSO record for the 73kHz band, and the UK distance record for communicating via lasers.

David worked for some years at colleges of Further Education, first as Senior Technician, then as an Electronics Lecturer. He taught the Amateur Radio Course, and Radio for Mariners for several years. He also co-organised student sailing trips and skippered yachts from Lymington across the English Channel to France, Guernsey and Jersey.

In 1985, David established his own business, Airwave Systems, which manufactures a range of point to point communications equipment.

David lives in West London. He enjoys travel, which he does for both work and pleasure. He also enjoys the theatre, eating out (and in!), and novels, which he listens to regularly as audiobooks – a very convenient medium for him.

David’s partner, Victoria is a freelance journalist and has three rescue greyhounds. Both Victoria and David are keen supporters of the Retired Greyhound Trust and regularly visit their local branch, Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare, where they help out as volunteers, trying to resist adopting a fourth greyhound.
