QSO Data Error Policy

High quality, full colour, four sided QSL cards will be produced.

We do not have a single QSL manager and for that reason did not give a traditional call-sign as manager. During the operation, when asked, we advised that QSL information could be found on this web site. We believe that our pre-publicity for the DXpedition was one of the reasons that operators found very few people asking for QSL information. When advised to check 3b9c.com, no one  queried this and asked for a call sign.

Here is the way to request your cards:

Direct Cards
Direct cards should be sent to this address:

3B9C
P.O. Box 73
Church Stretton
SY6 6WF
United Kingdom

QSL requests received direct by the managers will result in a direct response, subject to certain provisions. In order to receive a direct card:

  • Ensure that the QSO information on your card is clear and correct.
  • Enclose a good quality self-addressed envelope of sufficient size and strength for the number of return cards expected. No labels only please! Up to five QSOs can be confirmed on a single card.
  • Enclose US dollars or sufficient International Reply Coupons (IRCs) to meet postage costs by airmail or surface mail as appropriate. Loose UK stamps are also welcome. We cannot use stamps or currency from other countries!
  • One IRC or one US dollar will pay for return postage
in Europe for up to two cards. This amount will also cover surface mail outside Europe.
Two IRCs or two US dollars are needed to pay for airmail outside Europe for up to two cards.
    Additional cards pro-rata.
    IRCs must be properly stamped.
  • Additional dollars or IRCs are very welcome and will be used to help meet the significant costs of the DXpedition.
  • Please do not send other currencies or cheques drawn on other than a UK bank. Applications received direct but without a self-addressed envelope, an envelope which is too small, or without sufficient return postage, will receive confirmations via the bureau.

Bureau Cards
QSL requests received via the bureau will receive a return card via the bureau. Ensure that the QSO information on your card is clear and correct.

Mark your cards:

3B9C via RSGB/UK

SWL Cards
The DXpedition will QSL all correct SWL reports. SWLs should log three consecutive contacts on any band or mode. SWL QSL cards can be sent direct to the above address or to Bob Treacher BRS 32525 or via the bureau as shown above.

Bob Treacher, BRS32525
93 Elibank Road
Eltham
London SE9 1QJ
United Kingdom

Online QSL Requests
Requests for cards can be submitted via email. Cards will be sent via the bureau. Please ensure you enter the data accurately.
Apply online for a bureau card here.

QSO data error policy
To avoid flooding QSL bureau with unwanted cards, we will not QSL unless we are requested to do so by one of the above means. When we do receive a QSL request, we will respond 100%, as defined above, provided the QSO is correct in our log.

When the QSO is wrong in the log then the following approach will be taken. Ultimately the decision in uncertain cases lies with the appropriate QSL Manager.

Error in QSO data

QSL policy

Time in error by up to 10 minutes or, perhaps by an exact number of hours indicating logging occurred in something other than UTC

QSL

Callsign in our log is close (e.g. a dit "out" in CW or similar sounding letters in SSB, etc.

QSL

Band is wrong but all other details are OK, suggesting logging typo (unlikely to be at 3B9C as frequency logging is automatic)

QSL

Mode is wrong. This could be 3B9C’s fault! Check for consistency elsewhere and consider giving benefit of the doubt

QSL if reasonable doubt exists

All other cases

Do not QSL pending further information
